I was given my first Diplock Phoenix surfboard board when I was 9. At the time I was spending every summer camping out in a beautiful place in Ireland with my family, where we’d wake up every morning, catch marcel for breakfast and then paddle out at one of the amazing reefs that littered the magical stretch of coast in between county Sligo and county Mayo. I’d never had a performance surfboard up until this moment so stepping on to this first ‘proper board’ was an amazing experience. I’ve still got that board. It was a 5’2 chode, and turned in to a real favourite. I surfed it in my first competitions, and won the Ripcurl Grom search and my first British title on it as an under 12.

Since then I’ve been working with Diplock, tweaking angles and lengths to create the perfect high-performance competition board. They’ve made me 7’0 guns to 5’0 grovelers and everything in between to suit a range on conditions. Bro has an amazing ability to interpret my thoughts and create fantastic boards that always seem to suit me – always maintaining the flow and speed that I love. Its amazing how well the boards stand the test of time. The quality of glassing is good – even after years of abuse that first board I had is still in good condition!

Riding Diplock shapes I’ve gone on to achieve multiple British titles, UK Pro Surf tour wins, and represented Team GB and Team England as a junior and senior. I’ve seen other surfers riding boards from international shapers and even tried out a few along the way, but I always come back to riding Diplock’s - you can’t beat a board that has been developed specifically for your style of surfing.

I’m currently travelling the world full time competing on the World Surf League Qualifying Series and looking for opportunities to surf amazing waves. My go to competition board is a 5’5 PU, which is super light and flies in all conditions between 2 to 6 foot.
